~ Lammas – Lughnasadh ~

Lammas/Lughnasadh is the first of three harvest Sabbats with Mabon and Samhain following close behind. It is a good time to rid yourself of bad habits and unwanted things from your life by throwing symbols of them either drawn or written down on paper into the Sabbat fire or a small iron cauldron or if you live out on a farm or have large land, a burn barrel.

ANIMALS: roosters, calves, stags

CANDLE COLORS: Golden yellow, orange, green or light brown

COLORS: Orange, gold, yellow, purple

FOODS: Homemade breads, corn, potatoes, berry pies, barley cakes, nuts, wild berries, apples, rice, roasted lamb, acorns, crab apples, summer squash, turnips, oats, all grains and all First Harvest foods. Traditional drinks are elderberry wine, ale and meadowsweet tea.

HERBS: Acacia flowers, aloes, calendula, cornstalks, cyclamen, fenugreek, frankincense, heather, hollyhock, myrtle, oak leaves, sunflower, vervain, goldenrod, peony, nasturtium, clover blossom, yarrow, heliotrope, boneset, vervain, Queen Anne’s lace, myrtle, rose, sunflower, poppy, milkweed, Irish moss, mushroom, wheat, corn, rye, oat, barley, rice, garlic, onion, basil, mint, aloe, acacia, meadowsweet, apple leaf, raspberry leaf, strawberry leaf, bilberry leaf, blueberry leaf, mugwort, hops, holly, comfrey, marigold, grape vine, ivy, hazelnut, blackthorn, elder, bee pollen.

INCENSE: Aloes, rose, rose hips, rosemary, chamomile, passionflower, frankincense and sandalwood

STONES: Cat’s-eye, citrine, aventurine, golden topaz, obsidian, moss agate, rhodochrosite, clear quartz, marble, slate, granite, lodestone, Yellow diamonds, adventurine, sardonyx, peridot
